Year 2012 saw the rise and fall of many a star in the best and worst dressed list. While regulars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra exited the best dressed list, giving way to a fresh new fashion brigade, some worst dressed remain on this year's list, because they can't just seem to get their style right. Mallika Sherawat. Haryanvi. Outspoken. Bollywood's sex kitten. She once famously said, "If you want a girl next door, go next door." This is also the girl who said, "One man's porn is another man's art." Clearly, this woman knows why she is so popular. The lesser she wore, the more the tongues wagged.
The self-proclaimed actress has produced many a dud film, one of the latest being 'Hissss'. But with her increasing appearances in international film festivals such as Cannes and AmFar, she has gained a certain global celebrity status with the international media.
However, even with this new-found global attention, she has failed to find her own style statement. Her clothes are always overstated, loud and sometimes plain crass. With other international Bollywood celebrities like Aishwarya Rai, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto scorching the red carpets with their resplendent fashion sense, Mallika stands out like a sore thumb, her style statement screaming "trying too hard".
This year, her appearance in Cannes cemented her already deteriorating reputation of being the most consistently badly dressed Bollywood celebrity. She is beautiful, no doubt, and boasts of a sexy bod. Clearly, a good stylist is in order?
